Scotland Island House
Living by water, built for place
A landscape shaped by water
There are few places in Australia quite like Scotland Island.
Accessible only by boat, Scotland Island is unique even in our wide-ranging Australian landscape because it’s shaped not by roads, but by water.
Reworking and extending
This project began with the need to rebuild the existing balconies that had were originally built without sufficient engineering input and were beginning to slowly slide down the hill!
An investigation of other opportunities led to the inclusion of a new extension to the attic to create a home office with sweeping views across the Pittwater and a new boatshed on the waterfront.
Building in challenging conditions
After navigating a complex approvals process, bushfire construction requirements and the challenges of building in an area only accessible by water; the project is now under construction, due for completion mid-2025.
